BRADEN LAM

braden lam

6x ECMA Nominee
8x MNS Award Nominee

Blending authentic songwriting with modern indie flair, Braden Lam is forging the path to a new 21st century sound. The young artist from Halifax, Canada meets the moment on The Cloudmaker’s Cry, an album that makes good on the promise of this folk wunderkind, with music reminiscent of a bygone era set to lyrics pulsing with the urgency and anxiety of today. The titular Cry evokes many kinds—cries of joy, of sorrow, of protest, of rage, of grief—as Lam pushes his voice to new edges exploring these expressions, and then some. He hones in and drills down on the complexity of relationships, the mundanity of adulthood, and the lasting impact of history.

The Cloudmaker’s Cry is Lam’s debut full-length album, and he means album in the classic sense: 10 considered and thoughtful folk songs, meticulously arranged and painstakingly sequenced, meant to be played on a turntable in a single sitting, whiskey optional. Though barely 27, he has lived the life of a much older man—with years of touring, entrepreneurship, and marriage already accounted for—and this collection of songs reflects lessons learned earlier than most, about time and love and the world.

paul murphy (of wintersleep)

JUNO Award Winner
5x ECMA Award Winner
MNS Award Winner

Paul Murphy is a Canadian songwriter, lyricist, vocalist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist best known for his work in Wintersleep.

Over the past two decades, Wintersleep has earned JUNO nominations, toured extensively throughout North America, Europe, and the UK, and built an international following through emotionally charged songwriting and explosive live performances.

Outside of the band, Murphy records and performs as POSTDATA — a more intimate and experimental outlet that began in his hometown of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, as a deeply personal collaboration with his brother Michael Murphy. What started as a lo-fi acoustic project has gradually evolved into a cinematic body of work blending electronic textures, orchestral arrangements, and Murphy’s unmistakable gravel-worn tenor.

Across POSTDATA’s growing catalogue, Murphy has collaborated with artists and producers including Simone Pace, Andy Monaghan, Tony Doogan, and Ali Chant, further expanding the project’s sonic reach while retaining its emotional core. His songwriting has earned international praise, with MOJO calling his work “proof that inventive, envelope-pushing indie rock hasn’t disappeared off the map just yet.”Across both Wintersleep and POSTDATA, Murphy’s work explores memory, distance, family, fear, and transcendence through songs that feel both intimate and mythic.
