Bent Nail's Origins
The story of Bent Nail started a long time ago when Bent Ridge owner Glenn Dodge and his siblings Heather and Steven were just kids.
Their parents, Ron and Donna, were having the home renovated. Every night Ron would walk around the house and gather all the nails that the carpenters had discarded.
Ron, a collector of anything deemed reusable, held on to those nails for a few years until one day, he sat the Dodge kids down in the driveway next to a cinder block, handed them hammers and told them to straighten out the nails if they wanted to earn their weekly allowance. They obeyed.
The Dodge kids soon learned that the result of this small and tedious task was literally the foundation of a much larger project. These recycled, yet mighty, nails were used to build their family cottage on the Northumberland Strait. The cottage was appropriately named The Bent Nail and still stands today.
To pay homage to their loving mother and father for their guidance, ingenuity, and frugality, the craft beer brewery located onsite at Bent Ridge Winery is named Bent Nail.
