“La Jam Acadjen”, blends Acadian folklore with notes of nostalgia, summoning the fun of a kitchen party & of beautiful fiddle-accordion style ballads of yesteryear. With folk, pop & traditional songs, from Acadian music royalty like 1755, Zachary Richard, Edith Butler, & local favorite Lennie Gallant, & more, there’s something for everyone in this musical Acadian ‘stew’ of songs!
They’ll even sneak in some blues from the Bayou & country classics to keep things fun & familiar, for those who don’t yet know these timeless & historic tunes, many now in the hearts of our ‘Cajun cousins’, all the way down in Louisiana! As well, lead singer & songwriter Sylvie Marie, (Music NS nominee for Acadian & Francophone Artist of the Year 2022), weaves in original music, appearing soon on her long anticipated Acadian EP.
“La Jam Acadjen” plays most often as a duo, usually with Cape Breton fiddle player Andrew Touesnard (of Merimac party band), but also as a trio or full band, often pulling in musicians from the areas in which they play, making for the perfect Acadian ‘jam’! Recently, “La Jam Acadjen” band co-headlined Halifax’s 6th Annual Multicultural Festival (Multifest 2023), while our duo headlined the Acadian Day Banquet (“Quinzou”) for NS Dept. of French Language Ed. (Aug 2023). In late summer 2022, the band toured the French shore of NS, & recorded their EP of original songs.
This summer, you can find “La Jam Acadjen” duo playing at the beautiful Bent Ridge Winery in the valley (Aug. 9th). And in fall 2024, “La Jam Acadjen” will open for Quebec favorite JP LeBlanc (Nov. 30th), as well as play other Halifax area venues, as they prepare to launch their EP.
Come join us for a heartfelt time of fun & frivolity, sure to warm your heart, tickle your fancy & delight your musical senses!
